Sears® This catalog page shows all the different types of undergarments for women. At the top left is a chemise, which is a style of sleepwear still worn today. The woman standing up at the bottom left wears an all-in-one, or combination, garment, which closes at the side. The separates include a top called a vestee, decorated with fringe in the front, which women could wear underneath a blazer or sweater; bandeaus, or brassieres in the shape of a band that go across the bust; and bloomers, which were roomy, billowy bottoms.
Men were dressed in trousers and blazers that were made for movement. /Sears® Men were seen in single-breasted blazers, sometimes boldly striped. The term single-breasted means that there is only one row of buttons down the front and just a narrow overlap of the two sides when they come together. In contrast, double-breasted jackets have two rows of buttons and a wider overlap. The twenties’ blazers were worn with gray flannel or white linen trousers and open-neck shirts. There were the popular, extra-wide Oxford bags and knickerbockers.
